Rat Caught on Camera Snatching Chip From Diner’s Table at Mississippi Restaurant: ‘He Was Way Too Comfortable’
A man in Mississippi got more than he bargained for when he sat down to enjoy his meal at a local restaurant. It all started with an order of chips and dip, and ended with a video that left many online cringing, gagging, and even laughing about the situation.
The TikTok video shared by creator @rockydiesel45 starts off with the man holding his phone as he walks over to a group of young women sitting at a nearby table. He then warns the women that there is a rat scurrying around the area, and that it was even crawling on his table.
Mississippi Rat Runs Off With Tortilla Chip In Wild Video
“Oh my god,” one of the women says as another screams. “It’s on your table!” one of the women shouts. When they all go to investigate, the camera catches the rat running on the table, heading for the man’s food, and taking a tortilla chip. The animal quickly runs off as the camera pans to follow it running along the railing before vanishing.
Many online found the video funny, even making jokes about the rat being hungry. “Chip and dip,” one person wrote. “Why’d you have to rat him out?” said another. “Something tells me he’s done that before he was way too comfortable,” a third comment read.
However, the restaurant, Aztecas Restaurant & Cantina in the Ocean Springs area of Mississippi, is taking the situation very seriously. They even commented on the video, revealing that they were actively handling the situation and reminding the viewers that this happened at an outdoor patio dining area.
Restaurant Speaks Out
“Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Because the patio is an open outdoor area, local wildlife occasionally wanders through. We immediately had professional pest control out to treat the space and set up extra preventative measures. We are actively handling it,” the restaurant wrote.
According to Mississippi Department of Health records, the Aztecas location has passed its three most recent inspections with an ‘A’ score, with inspectors specifically noting no issues with insects, rodents, or animals, supporting the restaurant’s characterization of this as an isolated incident tied to the outdoor patio.
