‘We Don’t Discriminate the Time or Place’: North Carolina Woman Surprises Boyfriend With Elaborate McDonald’s Proposal
Each wedding proposal has its own special flair. Some are done in private with the partners sharing an intimate moment. Others have an audience of family, friends, or even strangers depending on the setting. However, one North Carolina couple’s proposal is making waves online for its unusual setting and activity.
In a TikTok video shared by @backdropsbybenny, a North Carolina McDonald’s was turned into the scene for a major moment. In the clip, the restaurant lobby is decked out with a large heart background made from red roses, a red carpet, and matching balloons. A woman, seemingly the bride-to-be, stands under the red heart arch. Behind her, a neon sign lights up that reads, “Will you marry me?”
North Carolina Woman Proposes to Boyfriend at His McDonald’s Job
Next to her, another woman sings the song “All My Life,” by K-Ci and Jojo. Meanwhile, a man who works at McDonald’s is seen walking toward the women, looking surprised that his girlfriend is proposing to him at his place of work. The man walks closer to the spectacle as the camera catches others, dressed casually, sitting along the side of the red carpet aisle in booths.
On the other side of the aisle, his co-workers, decked out in their McDonald’s uniforms, hold flowers, which they hand to him as he walks by. “Congratulations,” one can be heard telling him. Once the song ends, the crowd applauds, and the man can be seen wiping away tears from his eyes, still wearing his McDonald’s headset over his ears. Sadly, the video cut off before he could give his answer.
“POV: You got booked for a 9am Monday morning proposal at McDonald’s,” a message overlaying the video reads. “LOVE IS LOVE. We don’t discriminate the time or the place,” the caption added.
This Isn’t the Only Fast-Food Proposal Making Headlines
Recently, fans have been noticing a string of online weddings and proposals at public places. Last week, an Ohio couple made headlines for getting married at the McDonald’s restaurant where they work, per TMZ.
In addition, a Wisconsin couple was spotted getting engaged inside a Dollar Tree store where they first met, which left social media viewers with plenty to say. “This week alone I seen a wedding at McDonald’s and a proposal at Dollar Tree,” one person pointed out in the comment section.
This wave of unconventional weddings and proposals suggests couples increasingly value personal meaning and cost savings over tradition.
